Overview

Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt was founded durring the early 10th century, by Helêl vyim Rolɑrtɑtræ̝rg. The establishment of Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Helêl vyim Rolɑrtɑtræ̝rg struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt as a prison colony.

Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt was built using the conventions of Gnollish durring the early 10th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt is no diffrent. The village's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.

Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt is was constructed arround several premissive paverstone mainstreets which cross one another at certain axies, with smaller streets branching off of them to premit acess to the many buildings deeper into the road network. The overall fashion is remenessent of a circulatory system, or other organic construct, and is quite effishent in its design. The village has a defencive wall made from querried stone. The wall is equipped with a full set of battlments but the nature of its construction methodology leaves it somewhat vulnerable to siege equipment. That said, the village is well defended against anything short of an army. Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt's cost-cutting-focused defences are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt has the unmistakable air of a village on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt ’s existence has dried up and the village is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Likely due to this, Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt is, in a word, disorder. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a village, and more like a spot people just happened to have homes. One cannot help but wonder what Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt was like during the glorydays.

Cultural Notes

The locals have cut a deal with some unspeakable entity, trading some form of tribute (benign of horrific) in exchange for the being’s forbearance or assistance. Outsiders may be ignorant of the bargain, or they may know that the community is in thrall but be too fearful of its master to take action against them. The creature likely serves as a protector as well as a tyrant, so the locals may be content with the deal even if it doesn’t offer any further inducement or aid.

Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used makes use of a large oblong hall or building with double colonnades and a semicircular apse and symmetrical central-plan, resulting in buildings with a square central mass and four arms of equal length. Decorative features included domed rooves, arches, soaring spaces, and sumptuous decoration: marble columns and inlay, mosaics on the vaults, inlaid-stone pavements, and sometimes gold coffered ceilings.

In Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt hail is always enormous, yet harmlessly plinks off people, creatures, and structures.

The Lynx (Cat, Great) near Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt are known to be quite timid.

Mäpt Vidï-ehmánt's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves reenactments to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 2 via proclamations.
